A bottle of mustard oil looks simple. But look closer and you see a watershed, a family, a herd of cattle, a tree-line, and a soil that is either gaining or losing carbon every season. When we price an OOWN bottle, we are trying to pay for all of it.
We measure ourselves on four things: the health of the soil, the water we use, the livelihoods our
work creates, and the waste we put back into the world. We report these numbers every quarter — even when they embarrass us.
This is not greenwashing. It is a public commitment to a slower, smaller, stranger way of making food — one that will never be the cheapest, and will always try to be the most honest.
